Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a world-leading standard and certification for textiles made of natural fibres. In order for a product to be certified and permitted to carry the GOTS symbol, it must be made from organically grown cotton and be processed throughout the entire manufacturing chain in factories that are GOTS-certified by an independent body.

‘Organic cotton’ means cotton grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. This is better for the environment and for the cotton growers. In addition to organic cotton, the GOTS standard includes chemical use, waste water treatment and traceability requirements. The certification also includes strict regulations on wages and working conditions for everyone involved in the entire production chain, from cotton growing to finished garment.

From the spring of 2020, at least 50% of all our cotton will be GOTS certified. And 100% of our cotton garments up to Size 80 will be GOTS certified (except socks). All our classic striped and plain garments in white, red, blue and grey are also GOTS certified. You’ll find the GOTS symbol on the garment’s washing instruction label.

Recycled polyester and polyamide

Polyester and polyamide come from non-renewable sources. Using recycled polyester and polyamide reduces the use of new fibres from these sources and conserves our planet’s resources. Most of our fleece garments, for example, are made from recycled polyester from post-consumer PET bottles. And all our swimwear, including UV garments, is made from recycled polyamide fibres from discarded fishing nets.
